We are so thrilled to welcome Steph back to Hong Kong after a one-year hiatus in New York City. She rejoins us as our Studio Manager and Teacher, bringing back all that vibrant energy from one world city to another.
Steph embodies what we strive and stand for at Barre 2 Barre. Our ethos of “Transformation ~ Fitness ~ Community” underpins everything we do and to see it happening before our eyes is magical. She started out as one of our clients, practicing regularly with us in Hong Kong, and then took it to the next level by certifying to teach BarreAmped and joining our teaching team for a few years. We were sad when she left for New York but we are always happy to see our team spread their wings, and we feel grateful to have the chance to work with Steph again and build the next chapter of our story together.
Read on below for a quick “get-to-know” Steph session. Our Interview Series is led by our #barrebabe and Ambassador @ashleytang – hope you enjoy it and see you at the barre!

1) What does wellness mean to you?
To me, I see wellness as an ever-changing mindset while staying in the present, rolling with the punches, and knowing when to let go. At the end of the day, I see life as a series of possibilities that shift with each thought and feeling based on the decisions and actions we experience.

2) How do you stay energized while teaching throughout the day?
Nothing a little Britney Spears can’t fix, and staying hydrated with loads of water!
3) How has the BarreAmped method change your view on fitness?
Growing up, I was the “chubby kid” and didn’t see myself as an athlete or into sports, so BarreAmped has changed everything. I have seen my body transform overtime and I’ve become more comfortable standing in from of studio mirrors being able to teach. It’s rewarding to see my students growing confidence in themselves. The method has helped me embrace fitness as part of my lifestyle and I’ve discovered a different side of myself.

4) We have a strong community built at the studio. From Après-Barre to Circuit Saturdays, how would you like to grow the Barre 2 Barre Community?
To see everybody count on each other from inside the studio to out. We have a strong network of people who attend the classes, and an overlap of networks, so seeing women connect – be it career decisions or even mundane things to finding toilet paper that is least abrasive.

5) Favorite place to grab brunch in HK?
I’ve been living in New York City for a year and just moved back to Hong Kong, but my friends have introduced me to Black Sugar in TST. The matcha lattes are life-changing!
