Welcome to Singapore’s first edition of Healthy Eats!
Since April, the lockdown has made many of us weary of going out, eating out especially, given the COVID-19 situation and Singapore’s social distancing rules of up to 5 pax max. Sometimes, I feel like Singapore is its own little bubble, and the fact that the COVID cases are extremely low doesn’t mean we should be complacent, or take anything for granted.
Having said all this, we are extremely grateful for the support of our Barre 2 Barre community, and here’s us passing the baton to support other local businesses, knowing that every little bit helps.
Read on for our Singapore’s cofounder Jessica favorite food and coffee places nearby.
Gentlebros Cafe
18 Cross Street, Cross Street Exchange, #01-111, 048423
Gentlebros Café moved from Pickering Street to a bigger, brighter location within Cross Street Exchange! My favorite go-to meal is their Tempeh Bowl, with a side of Vegan Date Smoothie! The Tempeh bowl is beautifully baked with just enough seasoning, and I always get the side veggies with pepperonata tomato sauce, and depending on what I’m feeling, quinoa or couscous. The Vegan Date smoothie is a delicious blend of pea protein, banana, and dates – absolutely scrumptious and keeps me energized for my barre classes!

Group Therapy Cafe
181 South Bridge Road #01-05 & #K1-04, 058743
Group Therapy Café also moved from Duxton to a bigger, better location on the ground floor of Cross Street Exchange. They have a wide variety of breakfast (ranging from pumpkin pancake with smoked salmon to skinny eggs benedict) and lunch menu items such as the wagyu beef rice bowl, pizzas, and pastas, and I usually like to top it off with one of their Clipper Tea iced teas or acai smoothie!

Wang Dae Bak
22 Cross St, #01-64, Singapore 048421
I’ve asked some of my Korean friends about this place, and as someone who loves Korean BBQ, I would agree with them and say this is a great joint to grab a hearty meal with fellow barre bellas and barre fellas. I always go for the Galbi beef short rib, and for something to cool me down, the cold buckwheat noodle, and if it’s a really big group, the kimchee pancake!

Maxi Coffee Bar
6 Ann Siang Hill, Singapore 069787
As one of the main coffee providers at Barre 2 Barre Singapore for the longest time prior to lockdown, Maxi Coffee Bar is one of my favorite places to grab a quick coffee. They offer oat milk for those who are vegan (the famous Oat Brew and Cold Brew that we used to sell in our studios), and cereal milk for those who want a taste of cereal in their coffee. Don’t forget to say you’re a Barre 2 Barre member to get special TLC from Maxi Coffee!

Well there you have it! These are some of my go to places for healthy eats!
