As a former finance professional and like many working in a high-stress environment, Karen suffered from lower back and shoulder issues. It was then that she was exposed to the amazing physical and mental benefits of barre and Pilates.

Initially, she took the teacher training courses for her own benefit – to deepen her knowledge and improve her practice. But she discovered that she enjoyed teaching and has not stopped since. She loves working with students and showing them how their bodies can benefit from proper alignment. She has been teaching for over nine years and finds joy in seeing the positive change, not just in their bodies but also in their outlook, as they get stronger and more flexible with each class.

Each day she enjoys the blessings of wonderful family and friends. She also loves good food and wine, reading, baking, and hiking.

Mylene Mackay

Barre 2 Barre Founder & BarreAmped Master Trainer

Upon discovering yoga and Pilates during college in Boston and barre at the Lotte Berk Studio while working in London, Mylène has always been a student of movement and after many years working internationally, specializing in sales and marketing for luxury hotels, her healthy hobby soon developed into a passion for mind-body wellness and eventually her second career.

She has been teaching for over a decade and loves sharing a healthy lifestyle with others through her practices of mindful movement and mediation. Mylène now specialises in the more restful side of our offerings at Barre 2 Barre as a tonic to today’s fast moving world.

Originally from Manila, Philippines and now based in Edinburgh, Scotland – Mylène has lived and worked in Switzerland, Boston, London, Caracas, San Francisco, Palo Alto, Bali, Hong Kong, Singapore and Amsterdam. Her Asian roots run deep, and she travels regularly to the region to visit family, and to train with the Barre 2 Barre team.

jessica felicia anwar

Barre 2 Barre Founder & BarreAmped Master Trainer

Jessica was born and raised in Los Angeles, California where she was first introduced to barre fitness. She began her practice in 2009 and certified to teach BarreAmped in early 2015 as part of the Hong Kong Barre 2 Barre team.

She completed her MBA at Insead in 2016 and partnered with Karen and Mylène on the expansion of Barre 2 Barre into Singapore. Aside from barre, Jessica loves playing tennis and running. She was a tennis instructor at Beverly Hills Tennis throughout her high school and college years in the US.

Teaching good form is instilled in Jessica’s mind to avoid injuries, having injured herself many times playing sports.

Senior Barre 2 Barre Teacher | Certified BarreAmped Teacher Trainer

Denise is a classically trained ballet dancer, yogi and gym bunny – an excellent combination to bring to the barre! A natural fit with our team, she brings a passion for movement and fitness to her classes, and loves to share her wide range of skills and knowledge with her students.

She has been teaching for over six years and performed in several ballets and other shows (Chingay, Gardens by the Bay) in Singapore. When she finds time, she loves to bake at home (try to score some of her amazing cupcakes!), or seek out new food places.

Hayley studied Jazz, Ballet and Flamenco dance, and through these disciplines developed a deep understanding of body awareness. She broadened her training and later qualified with a Diploma in Aerobic Exercise, and was a full time teacher for many years.

As a mother of two daughters, pregnancy left her with the need to find a sustainable and fun fitness method to strengthen her core. Hayley loves that BarreAmped met this need and has been a passionate student since 2012 as one of Barre 2 Barre’s first clients, and now teacher trainer. She looks forward to sharing this passion with you to help you achieve the same body awareness and core strength she developed through good form and alignment.

Away from the barre, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, travelling and reading.

With over 5 years of Pilates practice, Jal understands that the essence of exercise lies in the mind, body awareness and proper alignment to reap the full benefits of each movement. Jal began her barre fitness 2 years ago, which brought her to Barre 2 Barre Singapore. With every BarreAmped class she took, Jal felt stronger, ran faster, and activated muscles she had never worked before. Driven by this passion, Jal’s fitness journey infuses the value of pace and precision.

Outside her daily grind, Jal focuses on living her best life with her loved ones and two cats. Don’t judge her by her exterior, she indulges in art, food and architecture.
